Extreme Thing 2016

Yesterday, I randomly decided to go to the Extreme Thing Music Festival in Las Vegas at the last second. I originally wanted to go because I wanted to see my new favorite band State Champs play along with Mayday Parade, but my boyfriend couldn’t come to Vegas to go with me and I really didn’t want to go alone. But then I saw the line up for this summers Warped Tour and both State Champs and Mayday Parade where gonna be at warped, with all of my other favorite bands so I basically wasn’t missing out if I didn’t go see them at Extreme Thing. So then I decided I wasn’t going to go to Extreme Thing and I was just gonna catch all my favorite bands at Warped.

But then yesterday morning when I woke up at 11:40 I had a text from my friend asking if I was going. She told me she was almost there and she was going alone so I told her if she’s going I’ll totally go with her. She didn’t really want to be alone either so I decided to go to Extreme Thing lol

And after I asked what time State Champs was playing I got ready in 15 minutes and ran out of the house. It was noon when I left and it takes about 25 minutes to get to the venue from my house, plus time for parking and having to walk in and buy my ticket, so I was expecting to get in around 12:40 so I could see State Champs play at 2.

Well when I got there at about 12:30, I met up with my friend and we had no idea it was going to be as crazy as it was. The line was sooooo long, like there were so many people still waiting to get in. Which was crazy to me because it opened at 11am and almost 2 hours later there’s still a massive line of people waiting. The previous years I would show up around noon and I would buy my ticket and just walk in.

We ended up standing in line for about an hour, and after some complications we finally got in, literally 10 minutes before State Champs was playing 😭 and I was like WE HAVE TO FIND THE STAGE THEY’RE ON!! But we had the hardest time finding the stage because they had changed the stage names that were online so nothing was what it was originally named, and even after asking event staff and security they didn’t even know the stage names, and we had like 5 minutes and I randomly found a guy walking with a program guide so I asked him if I could see it and we found where State Champs was playing and ran over to the crowd and pushed our way in and into the front/middle.

I had been wanting to see them live for a while now so I was so pumped! And I guess so was everyone else because the crowd was crazy and everybody was into it, everybody was hyped and had a great time. State Champs were soooo goood. They had great energy, and they sounded amazing live. I literally had the time of my life in that crowd lol

Then after, the vocalist said he was going to be by one of the tents meeting everyone so we went there after to meet him and he was so nice. And sweaty lol but everyone was. He met everyone and we all got to talk to him for a bit, so that was nice(:

Basically after that my life was complete and I didn’t really care about anything else all day.

My friend and I spent the rest of the day going from stage to stage to see the bands we wanted to see. We waited at the barricade for almost an hour to be front and center for Bayside, who I only knew like one song to, but they are my friends favorite band, and I could definitely see why! I had heard their music a little before, but even though I didn’t know their lyrics, they were incredible! I had such a great time watching them up close, and you could see all the members smiling and loving what they do. Their performance was so good I could literally just watch them all day.

After their set, we ran all the way back to the stage where Mayday Parade was playing, so we could be in the crowd for them and when we got there we were like FUCK. Cause their crowd was huge! But again, we pushed our way into the crowd and got where we wanted to be.
And then when they came on it got so crazy. Literally, pits opening up and people getting thrown in and tossed around, so many people crowd surfing and falling on top of each other. I am not kidding, you couldn’t really watch and enjoy the show too much because you were too busy either avoiding or carrying a crowd surfer every 10 seconds and trying not to get squished and fallen on. I kid you not. I still had a lot of fun and I love being in crazy crowds like that. I can’t tell you how many times someone fell on me during that show or how many times we got kicked in the face by crowd surfers lol like I have battle wounds and bruises on my body from that crowd. It was crazy awesome!

Everybody was crowd surfing for Mayday Parade and things got intense. My friend got flattened when a fat girl tried to crowd surf and fell on top of her and knocked her ass out. Seriously, she blacked out lol A nice random guy helped pick her up so security could take her out, then I asked him to lift me up too so I could crowd surf to the barricade and get out to make sure she was alright. We ended up getting to sit side stage for Mayday Parade and get catered to with EMT’s and cold water lol so it really wasn’t too bad. My friend got some air and water and they cleaned her up since she was bleeding, but overall she was fine. And getting to sit side stage was kind of a bonus.

The crowd was absolutely crazy! Definitely not the craziest crowd I’ve ever been in, but still Mayday Parade’s crowd yesterday made it pretty high on my list.
Overall, it was a really great day. I had a lot of fun, and I’m glad I decided to go. To be honest, it was really refreshing going to Extreme Thing again. It sort of brought me back to my roots and the kind of music I’ve always loved to see live and go crazy to. I’ve been going to shows in LA but the crowds there are so boring to be honest. Like they don’t do anything other then just stand around and watch. I’m used to shows in Vegas where everybody is hyped and the energy is so high, everybody is singing and jumping around and crowd surfing. Being a part of the craziness is what’s fun for me. If I’m not in the middle of the crowd dancing and jumping around or at the barricades at the very front then I’d rather not be there. If i’m just gonna stand on the side and watch then what’s the point? Like that’s not fun for me lol

But I’m glad I did go and hung out with my friend and enjoyed the day together.

Thanks for stopping by! And have a great day everyone(:
